Sacraments

The uniqueness of the Catholic Church
lies in the intimacy of of its members with Jesus Christ through the
celebration of the sacraments. More than just signs, the sacraments are
events that draw the parish into "FAMILY." In Sacred Heart Parish
Family, teams have been established for each of our sacramental
celebrations. A member of the team will help to make certain that
reception of the sacrament is as fully a community celebration as
possible and that the church puts all its resources at the disposal of
the recipient and family.
Baptism - For
Baptism Preparation Class, please contact Christa Owen, Baptism
Preparation Coordinator, at (940) 228-5333 or email her at
momofgrace0627@yahoo.com
at least 30 days prior to the desired baptism, or during the last
trimester of pregnancy
First Communion and Reconciliation
- Our children normally are prepared to receive the Sacrament of
Reconciliation for the first time during the 1st semester and First
Communion during the 2nd semester for the second grade. Because these
are family experiences, the child's parents need to play an active part
in their preparation. We consider the child's entire Notre Dame Schools
or Sunday Religious Formation Classes from the beginning of formal
education through the 12th grade as imperative.
Confirmation -
Confirmation has become the occasion at which the young adult renews his
or her commitment to Christ before the church and receives the fullness
of the Holy Spirit with anointing by the Bishop to serve his parish
family and begin to taste the options of Lifetime Service. Preparation
for the sacrament begins in the fall of the sophomore year.
Matrimony - A
couple planning to be married within the church must begin preparation
six months in advance of any planned date. They should contact a priest
even eqrlier is they would gain the most benefit from the preparation we
will share with them. Some 70 clock hours will be devoted to help the
couple appreciate the depth of Christ's love for them and to prepare for
the challenge of the Christian marriage.
Anointing of the Sick
- Sickness and advancing age are occasions for this sacrament. If anyone
is seriously ill, the office should be notified and the sacrament will
be bestowed upon request. regular visits and communion are taken to
those in the hospital, nursing homes, or those unable to leave their own
homes. Due to the Health and Insurance Portability and Accountability
Act (HIPAA), hospitals are not allowed to provide lists of patients
unless the patient or responsible party gives permission by completing
all necessary forms upon admittance. Catholic priests, Deacons, Sisters,
Brothers or other Church ministers will not be able to provide spiritual
visits or sacraments, such as Anointings, Baptisms, Reconciliation, and
the Holy Eucharist without your written permission.
Reconciliation
- Confessions on Saturdays from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. and by appointment
with the priest. Communal Reconciliation during Advent and Lent. Please
consult the bulletin for the times.
